Reasons Why Young Generation Should not be Apathetic about Election

Elections are the place for all Indonesian people to conduct their voting rights including the younger generation. The younger generation, better known as ‘Millennials’, certainly cannot be absent and miss the electoral euphoria. Here are the reasons why we as young people should not be apathetic about the election.

First, elections are a reflection of democracy. The young generation can directly elect candidates who are considered appropriate and able to lead this beloved country. By participating in elections, we has become a part of society that upholds democracy. You use your right to vote in the interest of the nation by appointing eligible candidates to sit on the government bench.

Second, Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest youth force in the world, which means that human resources with productive age in our country are very large. Young people are the next generation of the nation. That statement is very true. Therefore, in this election you may not be apathetic. The future of this nation is in your hands. The previous generation will slowly change with the young soul, and now is the time you participate in advancing the nation and country.

Third, elections are the right way to make changes for the nation through real action. As a young generation, this is the time to be part of the change. Yes, discussing politics does make annoyed and boring. Plus "war" between each of the supporters who dropped each other. But all that can't make you a fool of this nation. Use your suffrage according to your heart. But our task is not just to choose but also to supervise, so that government officials can carry out their duties properly.

Finally, taking part in an election is one way to show love for the homeland because as a young person, we want to care about a very complicated and deceptive political world. As the next generation, we cannot be apathetic about the future of this country because we are the next heirs of the nation. Enlivening elections can begin by not spreading hoaxes, hate speech or other negative things.

Thus, for the reasons above, we can conclude that the young generation, certainly cannot be absent and miss the electoral euphoria of elections.
